“What Did I Get Myself Into” – Oscar De La Hoya Doubts His Chances Against Vitor Belfort

The former boxing kingpin, Oscar De La Hoya, is all charged up to return to the sport. For a long time, he expressed his interest in lacing up the boxing gloves again. But he wasn’t quite able to secure a stern opponent for his return.

However, now he’s got an even better contender to fulfill his wish to fight in a full-fledged boxing bout. ‘Golden Boy’ will now face the UFC legend, Vitor Belfort, in a proficient boxing bout on September 18, in Las Vegas.

Ahead of that, he interacted with Lance Pugmire and spoke of his chances against Belfort in this upcoming boxing exhibition. “If I get past Belford, which I’m a little like, a little not scared, but just like oh what did I get myself into, but I’m sure, I got confidence to go in there and fight hard,” he said.

Over the past few months, De La Hoya has immersed himself in grilling boxing training regimes. Even at his current age, he showed a snippet of his old self and showcased his vast boxing skills.

Moreover, the Californian stays highly active on his social handles and keeps sharing the minute progress of his workout with the fans.

The last time ‘Golden Boy’ made a professional ring appearance was back in 2008. He suffered a loss in this fight, but eventually signed off from the game with an exemplary resume of 39-6. Despite being out of boxing for a considerable while, De La Hoya didn’t let his love for the game fade away with time.

Does Oscar De La Hoya hold a chance against Vitor Belfort?

Belfort was one of the most terrifying UFC athletes who had a long run in the promotion. He had a prolific standup game coupled with his ground abilities too.

However, in a pure boxing match, ‘Golden Boy’, who was an elite pro-boxer, undoubtedly has an upper hand. Yet, this fight between the pair will be worth the watch. Hence, it’ll be intriguing to see who comes out on top.
