Where is the Love Island villa and can you stay there?
This summer is about to heat up with the return of everyone’s favourite match-making reality show: Love Island.
The highly anticipated ITV2 show will be back on our screens from Monday, June 28, with the cast members announced yesterday.
The announcement of the 11 singletons looking for love kicked off with 25-year-old Sharon Gaffka, while Hugo Hammond has made history by becoming the first-ever disabled contestant to appear on the show.
You can meet the whole cast come Monday night when they enter the villa for the very first time.
But where is the villa for Love Island 2021, and is it somewhere you can check out yourself?
Where is the Love Island villa?
Love Island is returning to the sun-soaked shores of Balearic Island of Majorca, with the villa located in the east of the island, in a small town called Sant Llorenc des Cardassar.
The show is returning to Majorca after the 2020 Love Island winter series moved the action to a new villa in Cape Town, South Africa.
The show has largely shot in Majorca in the past, but the location has changed a few times since the show’s creation.
2005 – the original series Celebrity Love Island was filmed all the way out in Fiji, on Armstrong Island.
2015 and 2016 – the production moved to Majorca when the show returned in its current form in 2015. The villa used in the first two series was based in Ses Salines and was owned by a French businessman.
2017 – present: The production moved to its current home in Sant Llorenc des Cardassar, with a brief break for the winter series in South Africa.
The Sant Llorenc villa includes a pool, hot tub and garden with an outdoor kitchen area as well as the infamous ‘Hideaway’ where couples can go to get some privacy.
Can you stay at the Love Island villa?
The main villa is privately owned, which means you cannot rent it for a Love Island-themed getaway with your friends.
You used to be able to book a stay at Casa Amour – the infamous second villa introduced in the third series to introduce an extra element of drama.
However, Casa Amour has recently sold, and is currently no longer to rent.
The villa has four bedrooms, complete with an outdoor pool, a large terrace, and an outdoor barbecue, making it a very appropriate second locale for the show.
It is privately owned and likewise located in the Majorcan countryside, not far away from the main villa.
Love Island returns to ITV2 from Monday June 28.
