Below Deck Med’s Captain Sandy teases season 6 row with Malia White: ‘There are times you get p****d’
Below Deck Mediterranean fans picked up on the hints of a heated confrontation between Captain Sandy Yawn and bosun Malia White in the season 6 trailer.
However, the Bravo star has revealed that the situation was not as intense as viewers might have feared in a new interview.
Speaking about the incident with E! News, Captain Sandy stated: ‘Malia and I are fine. We just have to wait and see what happens, but, you know, there are times, even though you’re leading people, you get p****d.’
Malia, 30, found herself in hot water after failing to file an incident report and the seasoned yachtie seemed to be a sterm warning from Sandy about it.
‘I’m not a chief officer,’ Malia is seen stating before Sandy responds: ‘I don’t give a f**k. You should’ve come to me that he was hurt.’
Shedding light on the drama, the captain continued: ‘One of the things that really upset me is when people don’t take responsibility and they shrug it.’
Outside of this situation, Captain Sandy, 50, praised Malia as she continued: ‘Malia is an awesome crew member. She does her job.
‘You know, she always pitches in, you see her washing the dishes. Like, she’s a team player. She’s a real yachtie.’
The pair divided viewers with their actions last year, concerning the drama around Hannah Ferrier’s exit – when Malia sent the Captain a photo showing a prescription box of Valium and a THC pen from her cabin, after which she was asked to leave the boat.
This was met with a huge backlash from fans and fellow Below Deck alum – especially as the sacked stew later produced a medical prescription for the tablets as she suffers from anxiety, and she also stated that the THC pen contained a CBD oil, which is legal in Spain.
Katie Flood has now been cast in the role, and will be taking charge of the interior crew when the ‘Lady Michelle’ sets sail around Croatia.

The official synopsis reads: ‘This season the crew boards the 180-foot mega yacht “Lady Michelle” and embarks on an exciting new charter season as they head to Šibenik, the oldest native Croatian town on the shores of the Adriatic Sea.
‘Personalities clash and tension quickly escalates as a crew member’s grudges start to rock the boat and disrupt the workflow. In a shocking franchise first, a serious crisis occurs before the opening charter, leaving the staff to worry if the season will be over before it even begins.
‘While unprecedented permutations in the crew structure disrupt the dynamic of the boat, one department head’s new management style causes friction that spans to the entire crew.
‘Amidst roommate issues and health scares, the staff encounters one demanding charter group after another, all while continuing to provide the seven-star service that is expected in the Med.
‘Between charters, long workdays lead to late night hijinks, surprising hook-ups and one heated, over-the-top argument in the hot tub that leaves the group at a crossroads.’
Below Deck Mediterranean season 6 premieres on June 28 on Bravo in the US, and will be available to stream on HayU from June 29 in the UK.
