BREAKING: UFC 264 Suffers a Massive Blow- Kevin Lee Withdraws

UFC 264 is just a few weeks away and is headlined by a blockbuster clash between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier. However, the main card and the preliminary card on the night are stacked with some incredible fights. Unfortunately for fans, the event is now down a fight as reports suggest that the welterweight clash between Kevin Lee and Sean Brady is off.

A tweet put out by ESPN MMA stated, “Kevin Lee has suffered a rib injury and is out of his UFC 264 fight against Sean Brady, Lee told @marc_raimondi. Lee said he is taking time to heal and targeting UFC 265 on Aug. 7 for the fight to be rebooked. Brady also said on Instagram his team hopes for an August rebooking”

The bout between the two men was supposed to take place on the preliminary card at UFC 264. Both parties are hopeful that the UFC will reschedule the fight for the next PPV event which is on August 7th.

How will Kevin Lee fare against a top prospect in Sean Brady?

For a long time, Kevin Lee was touted as ‘the next big thing’ at lightweight. ‘The Motown Phenom’ challenged Tony Ferguson for the interim lightweight belt where he came up short. Since then, unfortunately, results have not been going his way. Lee is 2-3 in his last five fights which is a cause for concern. During that period, ‘The Motown Phenom’ has shifted weight classes a few times, going up to welterweight then returning to lightweight, and now he makes his return to welterweight.

Lee faces a particularly tough assignment in Sean Brady. The former Cage Fury Fighting Championship welterweight champion Brady is undefeated with a perfect record of 14-0. He is 4-0 in the UFC and has looked impressive every time he has stepped into the octagon. Brady is extremely well-rounded with impressive submission wins and stoppage wins under his name. In Kevin Lee, he faced a bonafide challenger who has been in there with the best and fought the best.

If Lee is able to secure a win over Brady, it will make a huge statement in the welterweight division. However, if Brady can secure a win over Lee, he will definitely be a name to watch out for at 170-pounds.
