John McAfee ‘left SUICIDE note in his pocket’ before ‘jail hanging’ – but last words to wife were ‘I’ll call you later’
A SUICIDE NOTE was reportedly found tucked inside the pocket of tech guru John McAfee’s hanged body.
The letter’s discovery came after the 75-year-old man’s wife claimed they spoke on the phone hours before he was found dead and told her, “I love you and I will call you in the evening.”

The discovery of the late computer wiz’s last documented thoughts were credited to an anonymous source who was not permitted to speak about the not authorized to speak about the inquiry, according to the Associated Press.
The late man’s Spanish lawyer, Javier Villalba, informed the wire service that the family had not been formally made aware of the note by Spanish authorities.
The billionaire had been bunking with another cell mate but was reportedly alone when he died, Reuters reported.

Meanwhile, an autopsy is being conducted to determine the cause of death.
The late fugitive’s family is seeking to perform a second independent autopsy pending the results of the official one and left open the possibility of taking legal action after the investigation into his death ends, McAfee’s lawyer, Javier Villalba told the publication.
The 75-year-old British-born maverick scion was found lifeless in his cell while being incarcerated at Brians 2 penitentiary in Barcelona, Spain on Wednesday.
McAfee’s hanging death came hours after a judge had approved his extradition to the US to face federal indictment for evading more than $4 million in taxes.
Medics were unable to revive McAfee, with Spanish law enforcement sources told El Pais, concluding that “Everything points to suicide.”

The computer security billionaire was taken into custody on Oct. 3 of last year by the Spanish National Police at Barcelona’s El Prat Airport on October 3 of last year in a futile attempt to flee the country for Turkey.
McAfee was a fugitive of the law not only in the US but also Belize police had been seeking him as a “person of interest” in the murder of 52-year-old American expat Greg Faull, 52, who was slain inside his home back in 2012 after making a fuss about McAfee’s dogs.
The woman who was believed to be married to the tycoon remained unconvinced that her imprisoned husband took his life and demanded answers.

“I blame the U.S. authorities for this tragedy,” said the woman who met McAfee in Miami back in 2012.
“Because of these politically motivated charges against him my husband is now dead.”
She claimed she spoke with McAfee hours before he reportedly hung himself and the man wasn’t giving up on life.
“His last words to me were ‘I love you and I will call you in the evening.’
“Those words are not words of somebody who is suicidal.”
Indeed she continued to rail against the suggestion he would end his own life.
“He didn’t deserve to die in a filthy prison like a caged animal,” Janice said.
The fugitive and gun aficionado wasn’t aiming to live loud or extravagantly, but simply enjoy the outdoors and sip cold ones.

“All John wanted to do was spend his remaining years fishing and drinking,” she said.
“He had hope that things would work out. We knew that there would be an uphill battle to continue to fight this situation.”
She called McAfee a “fighter” and that he was ready to battle against the criminal rap he was up against.
“He would never quit this way,” said the grieving woman. “He would never take his own life in this way.
“I don’t believe he did this and I will get answers. I want answers on how this was able to happen.”
A Spanish National Court judge announced that the effort to prosecute him in the US wasn’t a political persecution, according to the AP, who reviewed a recent ruling.
It cited McAfee’s testimony that pushed forward a defense against the evidence against him as proof of the merits of the case.
The State Department expressed condolences to McAfee’s family in a written note to the AP.

The Tennessee indictment accused McAfee of failing to pay taxes between 2014 to 2018 “despite receiving considerable income from these sources” and concealing assets from the IRS “including real property, a vehicle, and a yacht, in the names of others.”
