The Loose Women have shared their hot take on images of Matt Hancock allegedly kissing his aide.

The Health Secretary was caught on CCTV embracing Gina Coladangelo, on May 6 when Government guidance said two people from different households should not hug.

Both Labour and the Liberal Democrats have called on Mr Hancock to resign his post, but he has insisted he intends to keep going.

Opening Friday’s programme with an unpacking of the images and what it might mean for the Health Minister’s future in his role, the Loose Women were all over it as Kaye Adams joked perhaps it was ‘some kind of new PCR test’ to detect Covid-19.

She told the other panellists, Linda Robson, Judi Love and Jane Moore, of what appeared to be Mr Hancock ‘in a passionate clinch with one of his close aides’: ‘That’s the allegation and we have to be very clear about saying that.’

She went on: ‘So much we do not know about this story, these are accusations’ as she shared the minister’s recent statement on the matter.

In it, he said: ‘I accept that I breached the social distancing guidance in these circumstances.

‘I have let people down and am very sorry. I remain focused on working to get the country out of this pandemic, and would be grateful for privacy for my family on this personal matter.’

Speaking about whether or not the matter was in the public’s interest, Jane said: ‘In this particular case, regarding these allegations, yes.

‘We’re in unprecedented times and I think that when you’re in a position like this, at the moment he’s probably got the most important cabinet job, so much of that is based on public trust, confidence, that is the asset of your job.’

She added that ‘if what we’re seeing there in this photograph is as it seems’ then there was a ‘strong argument’ he has ‘breached the ministerial code’ as Kaye said the moment is ‘political dynamite’.

As Linda fumed ‘we’ve not been able to cuddle family members,’ Kaye joked it might instead ‘be some kind of new PCR test’, before adding of her follow panellist who recently shared her dismay at not being able to travel with her elderly father: Thank god Denise Welch isn’t here today.’
