Mel C was unable to hold herself back from making a cheeky dig at the Spice Girls during an appearance on Celebrity Gogglebox.

Sporty Spice, 47, is appearing on the current series of the show with her racing driver half-brother Paul O’Neill, 41.

During the episode, the pair could be seen sitting at home as they watched a pair of identical twins on Extreme Siblings.

The programme detailed how the sisters did everything together, including showering and sharing the same boyfriend, and throughout the clip they tried to complete each other’s sentences and speak in unison.

However, Mel was unimpressed with their attempts to talk at the same time, telling her brother they needed a bit of practice.

The singer said: ‘They need to practice speaking together. It’s like…’

Mel then burst into giggles and declared: ‘No, I’m not going to say what I was going to say.’

But an unafraid Paul stepped in, saying: ‘Trying to sing with the Spice Girls.’

The pair broke out into fits of raucous laughter as before turning back to watch the screen.

The Spice Girls announced the release of a new song last week to celebrate 25 years since their debut hit Wannabe stormed the charts.

A limited edition EP featuring a previously unreleased track is now available for pre order, with Wannabe25 being released on vinyl, cassette and streaming services in July.

As well as an as-yet-unheard demo version of Wannabe, the original radio edit and the Junior Vasquez remix, fans will also be treated to Feed Your Love.

The track will be available to stream from July 9, with a physical release following shortly after on July 23.

A statement from the band on social media read: ‘It’s official! It’s been 25 years of the Spice Girls.

‘We believe there is a Spice Girl in all of us, and we want you to join us on a trip down memory lane! We want to see you singing your heart out, showing off your best dance moves…’
