Paris Hilton has appeared to throw her support behind Britney Spears after the superstar name-dropped the heiress in her shocking conservatorship testimony.

The Simple Life star’s family also stood firmly behind the Free Britney movement, as they responded to her revelations this week.

Britney made a rare appearance in court where she admitted that she hadn’t spoken up about her struggles under her conservatorship – which she branded ‘abusive’ – because she hadn’t believed Paris when she opened up about her own traumatic experiences at boarding school, so didn’t expect anyone would expect her to be telling the truth about her situation.

And though Paris hasn’t spoken up directly, she has since liked a number of tweets about the situation since Wednesday’s appearance.

One post she liked read: ‘It’s funny the media is trying to say Britney doesn’t believe Paris about the boarding school, but really she was using it as an example and saying if I am going through all of this, and I didn’t believe her at first who is going to believe me.’

Another stated: ‘Paris Hilton understands what Britney meant during her speech. She knows it doesn’t mean that she doesn’t believe her, but that it was an example! #FreeBritney’

Paris’s mother Kathy Hilton, and her sister Nicky, have also shared their support for Britney, who called for her release from the conservatorship, which she’s been under since 2008.

Speaking to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, Nicky said: ‘She should know we believe her. Free Britney!’

Kathy added: ‘She’s such a sweet girl and a good girl.’

During her 20-minute virtual appearance in court, Stronger singer Britney admitted she thought people would ‘laugh at’ her and accuse her of lying if she laid bare how tough she found her conservatorship, citing Paris’s situation as an example.

She said: ‘To be honest with you, the Paris Hilton story on what they did to her at that school, I didn’t believe any of it.

‘I’m sorry … I’m an outsider and I’ll just be honest, I didn’t believe it, and maybe I’m wrong and that’s why I didn’t want to say any of this to anybody to the public because I thought people would make fun of me or laugh at me and say, “She’s lying, she’s got everything, she’s Britney Spears.”

‘I’m not lying. I just want my life back.’

Paris previously opened up about her ordeal at Utah’s Provo Canyon School in her This Is Paris documentary last year.

She said: ‘[The staff] would make people take their clothes off and go in there for, like, 20 hours. I felt like I was going crazy. Someone was in the other room, there was like, a straitjacket. … I was just freezing, was starving, was alone. I was scared.’

The star revealed she didn’t tell her parents about what was happening because of the consequences at the school.

She said: ‘Every time I tried, I got punished by them or they would say, “We’re just going to tell your parents you’re a liar, and they’re never going to believe you.”‘
