Rory McIlroy to Play Irish Open and Scottish Open for the First Time Since 2017

Rory McIlroy has confirmed his participation in the next month’s Scottish Open. He will tee up at this event for the first time since 2019. And this means that he will be on the field for three consecutive weeks as he will play Irish Open, Scottish Open, and finally, the oldest major, The Open Championship.

The four-time major championship winner will bring more star power to a world-class field at the Scottish Open. Rory will look to improve his game and aim for a better finish before going into a major tournament. This will be his seventh appearance in this championship. He finished T34 last time he played here. Rory McIlroy was disappointed by how the course played out for that week in rain-softened conditions.

The event will also showcase Europe’s top talent, with Ryder Cup stars like Tyrrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood, Francesco Molinari, and Henrik Stenson all confirmed for the event. Furthermore, reigning Race to Dubai Challenge Winner Lee Westwood is also teeing off for this event along with 12 time European Tour winner Ian Poulter.

The defending champion Aaron Rai will also join the stars along with Matt Fitzpatrick. European Ryder Cup captain, Padraig Harrington, has also committed to the Scottish Open with his vice-captains Martin Kaymer and Graeme McDowell.
