Wimbledon Championships 2021 Draw and Bracket: Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic to Step Up the Dream Grand Slam Final

Wimbledon Championships 2021 draw is here bringing in some exciting first-round matches along with interesting potential clashes later in the tournament. The top seed is Novak Djokovic followed by Daniil Medvedev. Stefanos Tsitsipas is the third seed and Alexander Zverev is the fourth seed. Roger Federer is seeded 6th whereas former winner Andy Murray received a wildcard to take part.

Novak Djokovic’s Wimbledon 2021 draw

Djokovic will start his Wimbledon defense against Britain’s wildcard entrant Jack Draper. According to the rankings and seeds, Djokovic could face Gael Monfils in the fourth round and Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals. Moreover, he has Tsitsipas on his side hence they could face in the semifinals.

Djokovic is bidding for a golden Grand Slam and more importantly looking to go level with his rivals, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer with a 20th Grand Slam at Wimbledon. Djokovic is a huge favorite for the title and was last defeated at Wimbledon back in 2017.

Daniil Medvedev’s road towards his first Grand Slam at Wimbledon 2021

Medvedev has Federer, Zverev, and Berrettini on his side.

Medvedev has been a little resistant to the changing surfaces. He had a problem adjusting to clay and on grass as well he has been subpar. But Medvedev does go long in the bigger tournaments and hence at Wimbledon with the faster surface, he should show justice to his ranking.

Stefanos Tsitsipas’ Wimbledon 2021 Championships draw

Tsitsipas will begin his Wimbledon 2021 against American Francis Tiafoe. He could then face Vasek Pospisil in the second round. Then a blockbuster clash with Karen Khachanov could happen in the third round. Tsitsipas’ fourth-round opponent could be Alex De Minaur and the quarterfinal opponent could be Bautista Agut. He is on the same side as Djokovic.

Tsitsipas had a great clay-court season. Effectively the Greek is the second favorite after Djokovic, but he has not played a grass-court tournament before Wimbledon. It will be interesting if he can continue his semifinal streak at Wimbledon.

Alexander Zverev’s path towards a first Grand Slam at Wimbledon 2021

Zverev suffered an early exit at Halle Open ahead of Wimbledon. He does not have a grass-court title and his results in Wimbledon are not great. Zverev is on a three-quarterfinal streak in Grand Slams and with him seeded fourth, he could continue his run.

Roger Federer returns for 9th Wimbledon crown

Federer finds himself on the same side as Medvedev, Zverev, and Berrettini. He plays Adrian Mannarino in the first round. Then a tricky clash against Richard Gasquet could happen in the second round. He could meet Cameron Norrie in the third round and Pablo Carreno Busta in the fourth round. In the quarterfinals, he could face Medvedev. In the semifinals he could face Zverev.

Federer looked pale during his title defense in Halle. He lost to Felix Auger Alliassime in the second round. He has been practicing in Wimbledon and now there is again an air of doubt around his Wimbledon campaign in 2021.

Andy Murray’s Wimbledon road

Murray will play his first-round match against 24th seed, Nikoloz Basilashvili. Then in the second round, he could face either Oscar Otte or Arthur Rinderknech. He could then play Denis Shapovalov in the third round.

Murray received the wildcard as his ranking plummeted recently. The Brit did play Queens Championships and was beaten by the eventual champion, Matteo Berrettini. Murray should do considerably well on the grass and in front of his home fans at Wimbledon.
