Wimbledon Championships 2021: Novak Djokovic’s Path to Equal Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s 20 Grand Slam Haul

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic is set to defend his title at the Wimbledon Championships 2021. The form he is in gives an indication that the feat could be possible. The Serbian ace has established himself as a complete player, winning multiple Grand Slam titles across various events and surfaces. 

Speaking about Novak Djokovic’s performances on the grass courts of the All England Club, he has won three titles in six years, which indicates that he is the man to beat. Giving his current form and achievements of winning back-to-back titles in Melbourne and Paris, put him in a different league. 

Novak Djokovic and his path to attain greatness 

We take a look at the Serb’s potential threats en route to win his 6th Wimbledon title. In the second round, he faces former finalist, Kevin Anderson who he beat at the 2018 Wimbledon final. After that in the fourth round, he faces familiar opponent Gael Monfils, whom he has a great head-to-head record against.

The real test comes into the second week when there could be a possibility of him facing upcoming talent Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinal. Moving further, in the semifinal he may face a stern test against Greek star and this year’s French Open finalist Stefanos Tsitsipas. 

A repeat of the 2019 final on the cards?

If all goes well, he may face arch-rival Roger Federer in the final, provided he makes it through his six matches. Or else, he could face Germany’s Alexander Zverev or Daniil Medvedev. There is also a possibility of him facing Italian player Matteo Berrettini in the final. The Italian is on a good run, winning the title in Queen’s last week. 

The Wimbledon Championships 2021 main draw begins on Monday, the 28th of June, and will end on Sunday, the 11th of July. The five-time champion will begin proceedings on the Center Court on Monday afternoon, following the usual protocol of the All England Club. It will be interesting to see how the Serb performs, giving the red hot form he has been in.
