Gok Wan revealed his confidence has improved since he took up running during lockdown.

The 46-year-old opened up about ‘overindulging’ during the first wave of the coronavirus pandemic, which left him feeling low in himself.

The stylist decided to take action when the UK was plunged into a third lockdown over Christmas, and turned to the Couch To 5K challenge.

He has not looked back, feeling fitter and more confident after taking up running.

‘People think I’m this massive ball of confidence, but actually I’m not at all. Being on my own at home and not being able to see friends and family, I genuinely found it really scary,’ the star told the Sun, explaining that he wasn’t used to being alone so much.

Raving about the ‘instant’ benefits from using the fitness app, he continued: ‘I feel a difference in how I move, actually, which has been a really interesting thing. I’m far more agile and relaxed, and my confidence has improved. When you feel fitter and stronger it makes you walk differently and sit differently.

‘You behave differently. I’m really enjoying that. It’s nice to be able to wake up and I don’t feel exhausted. I’m not hunching my back any longer.’

‘I was always like an ironing board. Now I’ve actually got bum cheeks, which is quite nice,’ he added.

Good to know.

Gok previously spoke about the tough time he had while filming for How To Look Good Naked, explaining he needed therapy after the programmed ‘triggered’ his past issues with his appearance.

Appearing on This Morning, he told Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby: ‘I needed a break. We made 78 [episodes of the show].

‘Back in the day, I used to have therapy when I was making the show.

‘There were so many triggers for me in there, what I’ve gone through with my body and how I feel about myself.’

‘I couldn’t have made any more [in the past]. We made so many of them. I think it would have been dangerous to make more.’
