Lewis Hamilton ‘Never Was’ Invincible: Fernando Alonso

After years of dominance by Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton in recent years, the two-time world champion in an interview with AS claims Hamilton was never invincible.

Lewis Hamilton’s rival in 2021 will no longer be his own teammate Valtteri Bottas. Instead, it will be Red Bull’s Max Verstappen who finally has a car at his disposal which matches his talent.

The 7-time world champion is enduring one of the toughest times in F1 since Nico Rosberg’s retirement in 2016. So far in 2021, Red Bull is dominating both the Drivers and Constructors championships.

What did Fernando Alonso say?

“Before he had to beat his teammate and now he has to beat another car that will sometimes be faster, other times slower. They are both at a very high level.”

“When the Mercedes is doing a little better on a weekend, Verstappen still does something out of the ordinary to be in the fight.

“And when Red Bull is a little better, Hamilton pulls something out of his hat and is fighting. They have both raised the bar and that is interesting.” (Quotes translated from Spanish via Google translate)
