Jeremiah Wells could not have asked for a better performance on his UFC debut

Wells entered the promotion on the back of a two-fight win streak. The newcomer has been inactive for a very long time and last fought in September 2021. It did not appear as though Wells had been out for a long time and showed no signs of ring rust.

The fight started off well for both men as they initially engaged in a feeling-out process. Alves has secured the majority of his wins via submission and therefore looked to take the fight to the ground. However, he was unsuccessful in doing so and was forced to keep the fight standing.

Wells was clearly the superior striker and managed to land 29 total strikes with an accuracy of 47%. Furthermore, he landed 21 significant strikes with an accuracy of 40%. The finish came inside 30-seconds of round number two as Wells landed a right hand from hell on the chin. The shot immediately dropped Alves to the ground. As he tried to get back to his feet, Wells landed a barrage of shots that forced the referee to step in and call off the fight. Wells could not have asked for a better performance on the biggest stage of his life.
