Who Is UFC Featherweight Herbert Burns: Brother of Gilbert Burns

Gilbert Burns is set to return to the UFC Octagon next month at UFC 264. ‘Durinho’ however, is not the only member of the Burns family who is a UFC fighter. Gilbert’s brother, Herbert Burns also competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship promotion. ‘The Blaze’ is currently a featherweight fighter.

While Gilbert has made a name for himself in the promotion and has already challenged for the title during his stay in the organization, Herbert is yet to reach those statuses. He is currently looking to prove himself as a perennial contender of the 145 lbs division of the UFC.

‘The Blaze’ made his way to the world’s premier MMA organization through the famous Dana White’s Contender Series show. The former Titan FC and One Championship fighter submitted Derrick Minner on the show and earned his right to fight in the UFC. He has since competed three times already in the promotion.

A knockout win over Nate Landwehr marked a triumphant start to his UFC career. A submission finish against Evan Dunham at UFC 250 further added to his great start. However, he dropped his next fight via T/KO against Daniel Pineda at UFC 252.

Can Herbert Burns become a household name like Gilbert Burns?

‘The Blaze’ certainly has the ability to become a top-level fighter. His first two fights in the organization are a testament to the same. However, he suffered a setback in his last contest and will look to bounce back from it as soon as possible.

Durinho‘, on the other hand, has established himself as a top-level UFC fighter. But the road to the top hasn’t always been smooth for him. He has faced adversities and losses too. However, persistent effort and willpower have ultimately helped him get to the position that he is today.

Herbert will always have an example by his side in the form of his older brother. Also, at 33, one might assume he still has time left in him as a fighter. It’s up to the Brazilian to make the most of it and eventually make his rise to the top of the mountain. If he can indeed do that, remains to be seen. But the potential is certainly there.
