WWE Fires Writer Kenice Mobley Following Fans’ Criticism Over Hiring Process

No one is above WWE in the sports entertainment industry, and the company proved it again. WWE fired a new writer after the latter caused major controversy on social media.

WWE writer Kenice Mobley recently kicked off a social media storm among WWE fans. The former comedy and showbiz writer appeared on a podcast and questioned the ‘hiring process’ of WWE.

“I have just been hired by WWE,” the comedy writer said on the Asian Not Asian Podcast. “Yes, also a surprise for me. They did not require me to know anything about wrestling but I do have a background in film production and comedy writing and they’re like, ‘Perfect. Come on in.’”

Mobley then said that she was a part of the RAW creative team, but had trouble remembering people’s names. She then called the WWE Champion Bobby Lashley, ‘Bobby Ashley’ and ridiculed his former stable The Hurt Business.

So I am on the Monday Night Raw team. So there’s Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown and the people I know that are on it are Bobby — his name is either Bobby Ashley or Bobby Lashley and I really should know that.”

“He’s like this giant Black guy and he and the people who are part of his crew,” she went on to describe him. “I know that they call — or at least as of last year, they called themselves The Hurt Business. The Hurt Business. They wear suits and they’re like, ‘We’re cool.’”

WWE Fans absolutely slammed Kenice Mobley

The ‘confession might not have heard the company directly, but it definitely tarnished their image. The biggest company in sports entertainment, just hiring people without knowledge about the industry – is a huge insult.

After some major social media backlash, Fightful confirmed that WWE got rid of Mobley during the latest budget cuts. Her firing seems to be a direct result of her atrocious comments.

Some other wrestlers to be fired in the releases are – Tyler Breeze, Fandango, The Bollywood Boyz, Arturo Ruas, Ariya Daivari, and more. These are the latest edition in the series of budget cuts this year.

Mobley was the only writer in the cut and is now on her own. In conclusion, the former comedy writer is not tuning into sports entertainment for a long time.
