McLaren, Aston Martin & Mercedes All Unite to Console George Russell After Heartbreaking Styrian GP F1 DNF

It was a roller coaster of emotions of Williams’ George Russell from having his best start in tenth place to retiring from the race due to a power unit failure.

However, F1 teams put their rivalry aside and consoled the young Brit, sending him positive messages and keep his head up as he will have another opportunity to bag points in a week’s time.

Russell took to Twitter to share his emotions after the Styrian Grand Prix, he wrote, “This one hurt. Every single member of the team should hold their head high today. We were up there on merit. Racing can be brutal but we keep fighting.”

How did Williams do in Austria?

It was another horrible weekend for the Grove-based team, as they went empty-handed from the Styrian Grand Prix. They were to score their first F1 points this season, but fate had different plans as Russell suffered power unit failure which saw him retire from the race.

On the other side of the garage, his teammate, Nicholas Latifi, didn’t have a good race either as he crossed the line in seventh place with three laps down.

However, the team remains optimistic and will learn from their mistakes this weekend. And look to make amends when they race for the second time at the Red Bull Ring in a week’s time.
