“My Heart is Bleeding”: Aston Martin’s ‘Pink Sponsors’ BWT Slam Lawrence Stroll for Poor F1 Business Decision

When the rebranding of Racing Point to Aston Martin was announced, fans were excited about what will change about the team. The most notable difference was going to be the title sponsor and how will they change the look for the car from pink to green.

However, some didn’t like it one in particular, is the CEO of BWT, Andreas Weißenbacher, who still has his company’s logo on the car. But feels the title sponsor, Cognizant would have gotten much higher recognition value if they would have stuck with pink instead of opting for British green. He further states that team owner, Lawrence Stroll understands his pain and knows how he feels about the change.

Weißenbacher isn’t a fan of the British green of Aston Martin

As quoted by Speedweek.com, Andreas said, “Aston Martin boss Lawrence Stroll understands that my heart is bleeding. If the Aston Martin were pink, title sponsor Cognizant would also have more fun because the recognition value would be much higher.”

“From a business point of view it was wrong, historically the British racing green is certainly understandable for many, not for me. The Aston Martin does not stand out on TV,” he explained. (Translated from German via Google)

How is the Silverstone team doing this season?

The team looked optimistic for the 2021 season, as they had finished in fourth place last year. However, it hasn’t gone quite their way so far this campaign as they have struggled to make an impact in the constructor’s standings, currently in sixth place with forty points.

But, the Silverstone based-squad has its fair share of good moments, one at Monaco where they placed fifth in the race, courtesy of Sebastian Vettel, and in the next race in Baku, where the German came second giving the British team their first podium of the season.

Now in Austria for the eight-round of the championship, the two drivers, Lance Stroll & Vettel, have a mammoth of a task ahead as they qualified in P9 and P14, respectively. Both of them hope to score maximum points at the Red Bull Ring this weekend and aim to take their team higher in the constructor’s table.
