The long hot summer is about to make a comeback with the return of Love Island in just a matter of days.

The show has been absent from screens since early 2020 – with last summer’s series falling victim to the Covid pandemic – making its arrival on our screens all the more anticipated.

Eleven new contestants will be kicking things off in the villa in their quest to find love – but who is presenting the show this year?

As we count the seconds until we get to tune in, here’s what you need to know…

The new season of Love Island, which is set to kick-off on ITV2 on 12 January, will be hosted by Laura Whitmore.

Laura – who’s married to and has a baby daughter with the show’s narrator Iain Stirling – previously hosted the one and only winter series of Love Island, which aired in early 2020.

Her other screen credits include I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! NOW! from 2011 until 2014, The BRITS Red Carpet and The BRITS Backstage in 2012, 2013 and 2014 and the MTV Europe Music Awards in 2014.

Ahead of the series Laura said she hopes to do former presenter Caroline Flack – who died by suicide in 2020 – proud.

Sharing a promo shot of herself with the new Love Island backdrop on Instagram, Laura wrote ‘I think we’re all ready for some love! Ahhhhhh! So excited to watch the new islanders.

‘Hope you enjoy talking about them and following their journey and just a reminder to treat them with love, compassion and respect when they leave the show and go back to real life.’

She added: ‘Caroline I hope we do you proud. One week to go.’

Love Island 2021 begins on Monday June 28 at 9pm on ITV2.
