BREAKING: Ovince Saint Preux to Appeal his KO Loss to Tanner Boser into a No Contest

UFC heavyweight Ovine St Preux suffered a devastating knockout loss in the co-main event slot for UFC Vegas 30. Tanner Boser was in need of a definitive victory after losing two in a row and he ended up with the desired result. However, the finish came with some controversy that has brought into question the legitimacy of Boser’s win.

The finishing sequence came with a possible fence grab by Boser that immediately sparked controversy. Not to mention, Saint Preux took exception to a move made by referee Jason Herzog that he believes cost him the fight. Chiefly, Herzog put his hand on OSP’s back and the former light heavyweight title challenger said this was a mistake.

Ovince Saint Preux: The slump continues

‘OSP’ reached out to MMA Fighting and revealed that he planned to appeal the KO loss to Boser in front of a commission. He feels like the pause in action gave Tanner Boser the opportunity to capitalize on his momentary lapse in concentration.

“I felt the ref put his hand on my back, which is only done to pause the action or call a finish. I slightly paused and then the tide turned. We will be protesting and requesting a no-contest,” OSP said in his statement.[h/t BJ Penn.com].

It’s unclear if OSP’s appeal to overturn the result of the fight will come to pass considering that it’s a rare occurrence in MMA. Even in the case of more contentious results, state commissions rarely change the result of a bout.

A look into the finishing sequence

Saint Preux started off slow as he often does and this time it turned out to be a costly mistake. His lack of urgency in round one allowed Boser to dictate the pace of the fight. The Canadian heavy hitter began chopping away at Saint Preux’s thigh and this attack went largely uncontested.
