‘He Ain’t Gonna Get Better’: George Kambosos Jr. Comments on Postponement of the Teofimo Lopez Fight

Australian boxer George Kambosos Jr. is still optimistic about winning the lightweight titles against Teofimo Lopez in a fight that still doesn’t have an official date. Following two derailments, Triller will now host the event after Lopez’s complete recovery from Coronavirus. Hence, it may take a few more months to happen.

Meanwhile, this long lay-off seems to put adverse effects on both Lopez and Kambosos Jr. Looking at the current situation, ‘Ferocious’ has connected with FightHype.com to talk about his ongoing camp. As he looked confident with the preparation, the 28-year-old also revealed the disadvantages that Teofimo Lopez will now face in the ring.

He said, “The thing with him, he has got covid, he is on medic as well. So, he ain’t gonna get better more than he is going to get worse. He is in a worse situation and I am in a great situation.”

“No matter what doesn’t matter, the fight takes three months, 4 months, a year, you know. I will be ready and at the end of the day, no one remembers how long the fight took. They remember who became the undisputed champion.”

The fight was originally set to happen on June 5, and was later shifted to June 19. However, Lopez’s Covid positive reports have once again put a scratch on the event. While ‘Take Over’ is undoubtedly one of the best lightweights at the time, this physical setback can cost him the titles against George Kambosos Jr. Casual fans may not be aware of Kambosos Jr., but the traditional community knows his in-ring abilities.

Can George Kambosos Jr. beat Teofimo Lopez?

The Sydney native comes with a terrific record of 19-0 in over eight years of experience in his professional career. He has 10 KOs under the belt and has an alluring resume in the looming lightweight division. However, Kambosos Jr’s prowess goes beyond the stats. He is a sleek hitter and can comfortably pick his opponents by stoppages or on the scoreboards.

Although none of his opponents have been close to Lopez’s stature, Kambosos Jr. can still be a terror for ‘Take Over’. On winning, he can rightly internet inti several big matchups in the lightweight division. From Ryan Garcia to Vasyl Lomachenko and many others, Kambosos Jr. can target many glittery paydays. That said, the added drive might see him get the win. However, it wouldn’t be easy to compete against an A-listed champion like Teofimo Lopez.
