Måneskin’s Damiano David and Thomas Raggi kiss on stage during Poland gig in call for LGBT equality

Damiano David and Thomas Raggi of Måneskin shared a kiss on stage over the weekend in show of support for LGBT+ rights and in protest against Poland’s homophobia.

Telling the crowd they ‘should be able to do this without any fear’ the Zitti E Buoni hitmakers, who won Eurovision last month with the absolute bop, stirred fans at the Polsat SuperHit Festival in Sopot into a frenzy with the moment.

As the band closed their set with English-languge hit I Want To Be Your Slave, singer Damiano rounded around to guitarist Thomas as the pair grabbed one another’s heads and shared a kiss.

Following the kiss, Damiano said to the crowd: ‘We think that everyone should be allowed to do this without any fear.

‘We think that everyone should be completely free to be whoever the fuck they want.

‘Thank you Poland, LOVE IS NEVER WRONG 💜’

The move was seen in a protest against rising homophobia in the country, after last year it was reported nearly 100 Polish municipal or local governments at one stage proclaiming themselves to be ‘free from LGBT ideology’.

The country’s record on LGBT+ rights was found to be the worst in the EU by international watchdog, the Council of Europe.

Sharing the clip to Måneskin’s official Instagram, Damiano’s stirring words were re-shared, as bassist Victoria De Angelis commented: ‘We all should be proud of who we are. We love you!’

Måneskin – who also includes drummer Ethan Torchio – have long been in support of LGBT+ rights and have used their platform to call out inequality.

The band – who have been open about their own sexuality and in a February 2021 interview with a Corriere della sera magazine, Victoria described herself as bisexual, Thomas as straight, Damiano said he was straight but ‘curious’, while Ethan is ‘sexually free’- most recently graced the cover of Vanity Fair Italy’s Pride issue.
