The CEO said: “It’s something that we’re making some very significant investments in.

“We believe it really is part of our future.”

Hyundai yesterday issued an artist’s impression of the future craft.

Mr Cole told a Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders conference: “Urban air mobility can free-up congestion and help with emissions, whether that’s intra-city or even between cities.”

In January 2020, Hyundai unveiled a prototype of an electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft in Las Vegas, US.

The world’s first fully operational airport for flying cars and delivery drones will open later this year in Coventry.
