“Hard to Put Into Words”: Ashleigh Barty Pays Tribute to the Great Evonne Goolagong With Wimbledon Championships 2021 Outfit
Australian World No.1 Ashleigh Barty will begin her Wimbledon Championships 2021 campaign against Carla Suarez Navarro. For the same, she will wear a retro outfit that pays tribute to the Australian tennis legend, Evonne Goolagong Cawley.
Notably, it was 50 years ago that the Australian legend Cawley won her first Wimbledon title. Overall, she won 11 Grand Slam titles, including two Wimbledon titles.
Subsequently, as Barty prepares to try for her first Wimbledon, she would wear the luck of her countrywoman. Also, it personally means a lot to the Australian ace to carry forward the legacy of Cawley.
“It’s hard to put into words how much of an impact Evonne has had on the culture of tennis in Australia and on me personally,” Barty said. She even thanked her sponsorer, Fila, for providing her such an opportunity.

Barty eyes first Wimbledon title with the support of the legend Evonne Goolagong Cawley
Tennis-wise, Barty has not played on the Wimbledon grass for more than 2 years. Thus, it would be a daunting task to go up against the top-level women’s player in the draw. Not to mention, she withdrew midway from French Open 2021 two weeks ago due to injury.

Even so, it is fair to say that the Australian has had one of the best tennis seasons so far in 2021. She would undoubtedly put out her best as she steps out on the court on Day 2 wearing the outfit that the legend wore once.
