Warning: spoilers ahead for episode 3 of Loki.
A new mid-season trailer for Loki on Disney Plus has teased a huge twist in the Marvel series that could completely unravel the journey Loki and Sylvie have embarked on.
In episode three of Loki, which came out last week, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and the Loki variant Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) found themselves trapped on a planet in the year 2077 during an apocalypse, with no way out.
At the very end of the instalment, any hope of their escape appeared to perish. However, a teaser for future episodes has revealed that Loki and Sylvie do survive – and wind up imprisoned by the TVA (Time Variance Authority).
Loki, who built a rapport with TVA agent Mobius M Mobius (Owen Wilson), is seen with an electronic collar back on his neck, still dressed in his shirt and tie ensemble.
At one point, Sylvie is shown struggling while being escorted by a group of Minutemen, with Loki expressing his anger over the fact that he has fewer security agents assigned to him.

‘By the way I should have an equal amount of security. This is insulting!’ Loki exclaims.
‘You just can’t help yourself,’ Mobius replies, clearly amused.
While Sylvie has spoken vaguely about her past, her character’s history currently remains somewhat of a mystery.

The mid-season trailer shows a young girl being brought to the TVA, most likely a younger version of the killer variant.
Sylvie appears to be an amalgamation of Lady Loki and Sylvie, aka Enchantress, from the Marvel comics.
So perhaps this means that Marvel fans will finally find out once and for all whether she is truly another iteration of Loki and why she decided to adopt Sylvie as her name instead.
Another scene in the trailer shows Loki seemingly assuming the throne of Asgard, one of his greatest wishes fulfilled.
At another point, he and Sylvie are shown joining forces yet again to fight off a group of adversaries.
With only three episodes left, it remains to be seen how the timeline breaches caused in Loki could impact the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

During a recent interview, Tom hinted that episodes four and five will be particularly significant, as the ‘whole series takes off in a direction that I certainly didn’t see coming’.
‘That’s where we just expand into new territory,’ he added.
Loki returns on Wednesday and is available to watch on Disney Plus.
