With some time to kill after a knee operation, Richard Osman was inundated with questions after inviting curious fans to throw them at him while ‘pleasantly out of his mind on fentanyl’.
Some people like to nap, others might catch up on their Love Island goss. Richard Osman invited his 1million followers to ask him questions. Classic.
The Pointless host was laid up in hospital on Tuesday when he appealed to his massive Twitter following: ‘Am happily recovering in a hospital bed after a knee-op, pleasantly out of my mind on fentanyl, if anyone wants to ask me any questions.’
Well, it’s perhaps an understatement to say his fans took him up on the offer, with the star soon seen firing off seemingly endless answers to everything from whether or not he’d appear on The Chase (‘the what?) to what his pin code was (we can only assume he threw out a fake one…we hope).
The author agreed to sing at a fan’s birthday party this year while also musing the best response to someone asking a tall person what the ‘weather is like up there’ is: ‘A withering look.’
Really on a roll, when asked who would win a fight between Bradley Walsh or Alexander Armstrong, Richard answered: ‘Don’t know, but I’d love to watch.’
When it came to who was going to win Euro 2020?
‘Italy.’
Don’t ask him who his favourite member of McFly is, though, or you’ll be greeted with: ‘That’s like asking my favourite child.’
Not long after opening the floor, though, Richard put a pin in the questions and put down his phone. He had just come out of surgery after all.
He wrote: ‘I might have to call it a day there, but thank you for your good wishes, and thank you, as ever, for making my Twitter so entertaining.’
We think the thanks should be directed at you for making ours so entertaining, Richard!

Once he’s recovered from said op, the star and scribe of best-selling book The Thursday Murder Club and host of Pointless is set to headline at this year’s Cheltenham Literature Festival in October, with Susie Dent, Sebastian Faulks and Ed Balls also appearing.
