“That Fight Would Be a Piece of Cake”- Charles Martin Wants to KO Dillian Whyte in the USA

WBC Interim heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte looks to have very few opponents on the line for his near future. While he is a mandatory challenger to Tyson Fury’s world championship, the recent scenario doesn’t seem to favor him with the shot very soon.

That said, American boxer Charles Martin has expressed his interest in facing ‘The Body Snatcher’. Furthermore, Martin has vowed to knock out the Briton, that too on the US soil. As both men have 28 wins and 2 losses in their respective careers, Martin also holds an additional draw. That said, he didn’t hesitate to pull the trigger from his side.

In a media interaction, ‘Prince Charles’ said, “I want to welcome Dillian Whyte to the US with another KO loss. Whyte is an easy fight. He takes too many clean punches. Eddie Hearn don’t want nothing to do with me beating his man… Whyte ain’t s***. That fight would be a piece of cake.”

Former IBF world titlist Charles Martin has been on the sidelines since losing to Anthony Joshua in 2016. Although he returned with a few wins onboard, the American puncher is still miles away from the title ride. So, taking on Dillian Whyte would bring him closer to that agenda, as Whyte holds the Interim belt.

However, the Matchroom Prodigy may not want to go for an underrated opponent. As Whyte has already expressed an interest in facing champions like Wilder and Fury, Charles Martin’s name may not allure him.

Can we see Dillian Whyte vs Charles Martin happening?

The heavyweight battle between Martin and Whyte would be interesting for several reasons. First, it would put two heavy hitters against each other, who share pretty much a similar resume. Meanwhile, the collision would be interesting for UK and US fans, as they will see two of their best representatives collide.

Adding to that, Whyte and Martin also share Anthony Joshua as their common opponent, and unfortunately, both men suffered their maiden career losses via stoppage against ‘AJ’. While they took separate roads from that loss, Whyte has successfully become more popular. Still fresh from his redemption against Alexander Povetkin, the Briton boxer is now aiming for the biggest fights.

So, only time will tell whether we can see him face Martin. Meanwhile, Charles Martin needs to continue targeting the biggest fights in the heavyweight division. Or else he might have to wait longer to enter the title picture.
