“I Didn’t Want Him to Do That” – Tyron Woodley’s Mother Didn’t Want Him to Box

The former UFC welterweight champ, Tyron Woodley is on the brink of making his first professional ring walk. He will confront the YouTuber turned boxer, Jake Paul, in a cosmic boxing battle. This fight is unusual in its own way, and the MMA elite has accepted it with open arms.

However, Tyron Woodley’s mother, Deborah Woodley, wasn’t so keen on her son’s boxing bout. In an interaction with FightHype, she revealed that she didn’t want her son to box.

“This was one of his long-lost dreams that I didn’t allow him to do. I didn’t allow him to box, I didn’t allow him to fight. He wanted, that’s what he wanted to do. He didn’t want to wrestle. He knew nothing about MMA, he just wanted to box, but I didn’t want him to do that,” she said.

‘The Chosen One’ had one of the most astonishing runs with the UFC for a considerable period. However, he left the UFC on the back of four lopsided defeats. In his last fight too, Woodley failed to give his best against Vicente Luque and he ended up losing via a first-round stoppage.

But since his fight with Jake Paul got announced, the former UFC champ displayed an optimistic mindset. Now, he will look to put on a show before the boxing fans. Furthermore, ‘The Chosen One’, who knows that he can hook in millions of MMA fans for his fight against Jake Paul, will look to redeem himself in their eyes.

Can Tyron Woodley actually fare well in the boxing vertical?

Woodley, in his prime UFC run, was a devastating puncher. And with his prolific right-hand power, he put many opponents to sleep.

But, in order to succeed in his boxing run, he will have to punch like a boxer and not an MMA fighter. He will look to use the time to hone his skills, as he will be keen on faring well and ending Paul’s unbeaten run.
