How many Gold medals Great Britain’s shooting team clinched at the 2012 London Olympics?

During the 2012 London Olympics, 390 shooters competed across fifteen shooting events. The Olympic shooting event was conducted from 29 July to 6th August 2012, at the Royal Artillery Barracks, Woolwich.

In the shooting event, Great Britain, being the host nation, was awarded nine quota places. Whereas Britain’s shooters also gained some additional places.

The South Korean team topped the medal charts with 5 medals, followed by team USA with 4 medals in shooting. While the host country, Great Britain won only one medal.

Peter Wilson grabbed the Gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics

Double Trap shooter Peter Wilson clinched the gold medal at the 2012 London Olympics. Notably, Wilson scored 143 points in qualification and 188 in the final event.

Great Britain’s 11 shooters competed across the different events. However, the host country’s performance was not up to the mark. The list of shooters who competed at the 2012 London Olympics:

Richard Brickell (skeet)

Richard Faulds (double trap)

Peter Wilson (double trap)

Edward Ling (trap)

Roy Walrow (skeet)

Jon Hammond (50m rifle, 3 positions and 50m rifle, prone)

James Huckle (50m rifle, 3positions; 50m rifle, prone; 10m air rifle)

Women’s events-

Elena Allen( skeet)

Georgina Geikie (25m pistol and 10m air pistol)

Charlotte Geikie (trap)

Jennifer McIntosh (50m rifle, 3 positions, 10m air rifle)

Team Great Britain for Tokyo Olympics 2021

Five shooters from Great Britain have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics 2021. However, the nation would not be competing in any pistol event in Tokyo. Albeit 4 shooters were finalized in January 2021, whereas Amber Hill became the fifth member in June 2021.

Notably, Amber Hill is currently at the world rank one in women’s skeet event. Here is the list of Great Britain’s shooting team for the Tokyo Olympics.

Interestingly, Seonaid McIntosh is the sibling of Olympian Jennifer McIntosh, who competed in 2012.
