IMPACT Wrestling veteran Chris Sabin has heaped praise on Moose and described his rival as a ‘freak athlete’.

The former X-Division Champion first got to know Moose in 2016 when they were both in Ring of Honor shortly before the latter signed with IMPACT, and he’s impressed by the way he has developed as a performer over the past five years.

He exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘Oh, [he’s improved] a ridiculous amount. He’s got so much better – he’s basically on a path of getting better, non-stop.

‘I didn’t get to do anything with Moose for that short time we were in Ring on Honor together, but I did get to see him wrestle, that’s how I first saw him.

‘Then I just continued to watch his career in IMPACT and man, he’s just an unbelievable athlete. He’s a big guy who’s strong, he can do all the highflying stuff.

‘I’m half his size and he can do standing moonsaults that I can’t do, and Spanish Flys, all this stuff. He is a freak athlete, man!’

Although the pair are set for a collision course at Slammiversary on July 17, they will team up on IMPACT tonight (July 1) alongside Sami Callihan to battle The Good Brothers (Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson) and AEW’s Kenny Omega.

Fans have seen Omega on appear regularly for IMPACT this year, and Sabin has been delighted by the way things are going between the two companies.

‘It’s really cool, especially for the wrestling fans. They win the most out of all of this,’ he admitted.

‘Usually, two major US promotions don’t work together in the way that IMPACT and AEW are working together.

‘You’re seeing some really unique matches and it’s very cool for Kenny Omega to bring some AEW fans to IMPACT and put some more eyes on the product as well.’

Sabin teamed up with Moose and Rich Swann to face the same trio of Gallows, Arnderson and Omega back at Hard To Kill in January, and he reflected on the way the whole locker room is united in making sure the promotion ‘will not die’.

‘Everyone is on the same page, wanting to build IMPACT Wrestling, wanting the company to grow,’ he said, noting the pandemic hasn’t made things easy.

‘Obviously the last couple of years have been a little rough, but the company just will not die. I love that IMPACT Wrestling, through it all, has survived this long.

‘I really believe that the future is very bright for the company and I hope to be a very big part of it.’
