WATCH: Clippers’ Patrick Beverley Crosses Up Chris Paul and Completes a Sizzling Layup

The Phoenix Suns registered a decent opening to their game 6 against the Clippers. Within the first four minutes, all of their starting five had scored points. On the opponents’ end it was Patrick Beverley taking the early charge as the Clips fought to stay in the series.

Early in the game, Chris Paul registered back-to-back threes but he still struggled to capture grounds against Pat. The 32-YO was everywhere on the court and impacted from both ends.

Patrick Beverley dis the heavy lifting for the Clippers

Coming into the game, Paul George was the first in the playing minutes and the points scored in the postseason 2021. But just as he struggled from behind the arc, his guard Patrick Beverley became the Kawhi Leonard as he was supposed to. Pat had been really impressive against guarding Chris Paul all through the series. But here in Game 6, he pulled an amazing offensive move on CP3 and kept him guessing with his ball handling while leading a huge layup. Take a close look –

This play was in sync with how Beverley mocked the Suns’ vet point guard earlier in the series. The star guard had 11 points in his first 16 minutes of play at 57.1% field shooting along with a steal and a block.

Where did the Phoenix Suns stay ahead of the competition?

There were certain different approaches that coach Monty Williams utilized tonight. He introduced Torrey Craig above Abdel Nader and kept DeAndre Ayton in check of a lethal DeMarcus Cousins. Yet, Boogie completed a buzzer-beating three in Q1 and helped the Clips early.

Later in Q2, Dario Saric came off as a fire from downtown and buried two quick daggers. The Suns were an improved side as far as their long-range went tonight. They were 10/17 in the first 24 minutes against the Clips’ 7/21.

However, the Clippers weren’t very far from catching up as they had both Reggie Jackson and Mr. 94 feet playing at their optimal best.

Reggie has been a phenomenal catch-and-shoot force for the Clippers all through the postseason. With the Suns in the lead, it was important for him to find more helping hands to bring the Clips their first lead.

By halftime, the Suns led the charge 66-57 against the Clippers. Whom are you supporting tonight? Help us know in the comments.
