Viewers will watch next week as Nancy is hit by a car driven by Frankie after Zack gets too drunk to do it himself.

They will hit her and he will order Frankie to go before calling for an ambulance and pretending he found Nancy in the street.

He told Metro: “The panic leads to out of character actions.

“He’s quite courageous but he decides to cover it up to help others, actually – to protect Frankie and not ruin the Carter family dynamic.

“In true EastEnders form, it will create a huge rift between Zack and the Carters.”

Teasing the aftermath for Zack, James added to DS:  “There will be heartbreak but not just for Zack – for Frankie, for Nancy, for the Carters. Zack will have to live with that forever.

“Considering Zack already feels a little bit of an outsider and hasn’t ever been loved by anybody until Sharon, he has a lot to lose.

“He has big trust and loyalty issues and he gets this sense of loyalty from the Carters but that could all be ruined as well.

“I am used to playing very dark, vulnerable, twisted and violent characters.

“I wouldn’t say the violence is here just yet but vulnerability, sadness and trauma are certainly on their way.”
