“I Know Damn Well He Ain’t Beating Me”: Chris Colbert Promises Victory Over Tugstsogt Nyambayar
Undefeated and undisputed interim WBC featherweight champion Chris Colbert is all set to face Tugstsogt Nyambayar on July 23, 2021.
Colbert’s initial matchup with Yuriorkis Gamboa fell through after the Cuban boxer suffered a rib injury. ‘King Tug’ stepped in on short notice to try his hand at dethroning the current champion.
Ahead of their clash on Saturday, the duo faced off and answered last-minute questions. Chris Colbert expressed his dissatisfaction with being doubted every time and resolved to put Nyambayar away.
“Every time I fight, it’s always something. ‘He’s fighting a hard-hitter,’ but I’ve been putting stuff out, sleeping ’em. I’ve been knocking them out, beating them up bad, and they’re still not respecting me.
“I guess I gotta keep doing this on Saturday night and embarrass him. I know damn well he ain’t beating me and that’s a promise…he looks chubby, no way I’m losing to him. It’s impossible!” said Colbert.

Tugstsogt Nyambayar countered his opponent’s claims by saying he could get past him even with two weeks’ notice.
Tugstsogt Nyambayar is shooting for the crown
In under 15 pro-fights, Chris Colbert has put away three previously unbeaten fighters and now holds a clean 15-0 record. While the undisputed champ has proven himself repeatedly throughout his career, some still think that ‘King Tug’ could prove to be a real problem for Colbert.
Both fighters possess the ability to connect well, create angles and apply world-class footwork to strike effectively. The similarity between both fighters’ movements and striking techniques makes this an interesting matchup.
While Nyambayar faces a reach disadvantage, he could still prove to be a tougher challenger than Yuriorkis Gamboa as both corners are quick to identify loopholes and act on them.

“When I got the call about this fight, I jumped at the opportunity, I can’t wait to compete. I was born for fights like this. I’m going to leave it all in the ring and give the fans a great show,” said Nyambayar.
While both boxers seem capable of dragging the fight into deep waters into the later rounds, it will be interesting to see whether taking this fight on short notice will reflect in Nyambayar’s overall conditioning and movement.
