Love Island viewers were treated to the first dramatic recouping of the series on Friday, with Brad and Chuggs being left single.

It came after Chuggs and Liam joined the villa and out in the graft getting to know the girls, who were doing the choosing in the evening’s recoupling.

Given that there were now seven boys and five girls in the villa, two Islanders were set to be dateless after the decisions were made.

While some of the couples were exactly as fans expected, with Liberty choosing Jake and Kaz choosing Toby, who they were both already coupled up with, there were a few surprises along the way.

Sharon, who was coupled up with Hugo, chose to pick Aaron after the pair had shared a kiss with on a previous night.

Faye, who had been coupled up with Brad before the pair had a blazing row about him dubbing her the ‘least attractive’ in the villa, chose new bombshell Liam to be in a couple with, after feeling guilty about not choosing Hugo.

Chloe had poached Aaron from Shannon when she first joined the villa, but Sharon had chosen him in the recoupling, leaving Chloe choosing to pair up with Hugo.

Brad and Chuggs were therefore left single after nobody chose to recouple with them.

Their fates were left hanging in the balance as a text message revealed that their place in the villa was at risk, based on the choice of new bombshell Rachel who would be entering the villa.

Rachel, a 29-year-old luxury travel specialist from London will get to decide who stays and who will be dumped from the island – so Brad and Chuggs had better get grafting.

Love Island continues Sunday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox
