Pedro Pascal has started filming The Last Of Us TV series, as Gabriel Luna shared an on-set picture alongside The Mandalorian actor and fellow co-star Nico Parker.

Earlier this week, it was announced that 16-year-old Nico had been cast in the TV adaptation of The Last Of Us as Sarah Miller, the daughter of Pedro’s lead character Joel Miller.

Days after her role in the video game-inspired show was announced, she was photographed in the back of a car with Pedro and Gabriel, who is set to play Tommy Miller, Joel’s younger brother, in the apocalyptic tale.

Kantemir Balagov, the director of the pilot episode, and cinematographer Ksenia Sereda were also in the picture posted on Instagram by Gabriel, wearing masks as the maskless actors beamed at the camera.

It’s therefore likely that the picture was taken while filming a pilot episode scene, with fans speculating whether it will be the part of the story from the video game when Joel, Tommy and Sarah are trying to drive to safety after members of the public start becoming ‘infected’.

In the caption, Gabriel paid homage to his on-screen family, writing: ‘Already love these folks. #MillerTime #thelastofus.’

Several Instagram users expressed their excitement over the fact that filming has begun.

‘I am so f***ing excited for this,’ one person wrote.

‘JOEL AND TOMMYYYY HELL YEAAAAAAHHHH,’ another wrote.

The Last Of Us video game, which originally launched in 2013, is set in a post-apocalyptic world devastated by a plague that has resulted in many humans becoming ‘infected’, zombie-esque creatures.

Joel, who is a smuggler, has been tasked with escorting a teenage girl called Ellie across the United States, with the pair of them working together to survive in perilous conditions.

Ellie will be played in the TV adaptation by fellow Game of Thrones alum Bella Ramsey, who recently starred as Angelica in season two of His Dark Materials.

While numerous fans can’t wait to see Pedro embody the steely Joel, many also can’t wait to see him reprise his role as Din Djarin in season three of The Mandalorian.

Gabriel previously starred in films and TV series including Terminator: Dark Fate, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and True Detective, while Nico appeared in the live-action adaptation of Dumbo.

The Last Of Us will air on HBO in the US.
