Shaquille O’Neal has teased plans for an AEW match with Paul Wight.
The NBA legend and the towering grappler – known as the Big Show during his time in WWE – have been on collision course for years, but the dream bout never took place for various reasons.
Now, Shaq has suggested the stars may well have aligned for him to have his highly anticipated showdown with the World’s Largest Athlete.
He told PopCulture.com: ‘There shouldn’t be any problems for us getting together now. Last time there was a lot of bureaucracy and red tape, now there is no red tape.’
The retired basketballer was last seen in a wrestling ring back in March when he got sent through a table by Cody Rhodes during an epic mixed tag team match.
He insisted he’s still in a bit of pain from the fall, but he’s already planning to work hard and get in tip top shape to face Wight.
He added: ‘I’m still still kind of sore from that table, so I’m going to work out the summer, pump these muscles up, and I’ll be waiting for you, Mr. Paul.’
Shaq revealed he’s excited to get back in the ring, and the table spot wasn’t as bad as it could have been.
He said: ‘Well, I’m made of steel, so there’ll be no broken bones. It is actually fun.
‘I wish we could have the 17, 18,000 [fans] so I could have felt a little more, but it was like 1500, 2,000 people there, that was actually pretty good.
‘But I look forward to doing it again, and I hear that Paul White’s still talking trash. So I’m gonna work out really hard this summer, and maybe we could do something very, very soon.’

Fans and wrestlers alike were buzzing after his appearance earlier this year, and WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley was among them.
He tweeted: ‘HUGE props to @SHAQ for taking that bump!’
Diamond Dallas Page simply tagged Cody, Shaq and AEW, writing: ‘GOOD GAWD!’
And Pat McAfee – who made his own transition from sports to pro wrestling at NXT TakeOver 30 last year – added: ‘Shaq killed it.’
