Steph’s Packed Lunch viewers are still baffled as to why Joe Lycett walked off set on Thursday’s show.

The comedian appeared on yesterday’s edition of the Channel 4 daytime talk show to discuss the benefits of hitting the gym to tackle poor sleep and how to brighten up your garden.

However, things took a strange turn when Joe, 32, took off his mic and walked off set after Steph McGovern made a joke about him using a plastic bottle.

Why did Joe Lycett walk off Steph’s Packed Lunch?

It appears that the incident stems from an awkward comment about single-use plastic.

Earlier in the show, Joe quipped that he had stopped using single-use plastic to help the environment, and the comment came back to bite him when a photo of him hanging out in his revamped garden was shown.

After Joe joked that he decorated with a single candle, rather than a Love Island style fire pit, Steph said: ‘Isn’t that one of the bottles you said you stopped using, in the picture?’

There was an awkward pause before The Great British Sewing Bee host said: ‘I didn’t realise I was on Newsnight, Steph.’

The crew laughed, and Steph continued to say: ‘Joe Lycett is sticking around, he’ll be telling us what he thinks of the idea of hitting the gym when you’ve missed out on a good night’s sleep.’

However, when the camera cut to Joe, he was already removing his mic pack, and didn’t look too impressed as he walked off set.

When the show returned after an ad break, Steph confirmed the comedian had left, saying: ‘Joe Lycett was going to stick with us, but he’s had to leave.’

Has Joe Lycett addressed his walkout?

The star has yet to speak on social media since the episode aired.

Joe’s last post on Twitter and Instagram was a selfie he took on set, with the caption: ‘I’m on @PackedLunchC4, LIVE at 12:30! @Channel4!!!’

Fans have questioned why he walked out under his post, with some accusing him of being unable to take a joke.

However, others were supportive of Joe’s decision and shared their well wishes.

Metro.co.uk has approached Lycett’s rep for comment.
