Piers Morgan has doubled down on his criticism of the newly unveiled Princess Diana statue, refusing to delete his tweet about it.

The former Good Morning Britain host wasn’t impressed by the statue, which was unveiled for what would have been the late royal’s 60th birthday, simply dubbing it, ‘not great’.

Davina McCall agreed with him, responding: ‘I really wanted to like it. But somehow… it doesn’t feel very Diana? Her joie de vivre… her radiance, her compassion. It feels stiff.’

‘The statue’s the one thing Diana never was: dull,’ Piers added.

The Masked Singer panellist since appears to have deleted her tweet about the statue.

Responding to an article about Davina, Piers claimed she had been ‘bullied & abused by the woke #BeKind brigade into deleting an honestly-held and entirely accurate opinion.’

Piers and Davina weren’t alone in their criticism of the statue, which saw Diana’s sons Prince William and Prince Harry come together to unveil it.

Lorraine Kelly said on her morning show that she doesn’t think the statue does Diana ‘justice,’ while This Morning guest Matthew Wright also admitted he ‘hated it’.

However, others have sung the statue’s praises, with This Morning presenter Alison Hammond saying she thinks it’s ‘lovely’.

The statue was sculpted by Ian Rank-Broadley with input from William and Harry and was unveiled in Kensington Palace’s Sunken Garden.

The Dukes released a joint statement to mark the occasion, saying: ‘Today, on what would have been our mother’s 60th birthday, we remember her love, strength and character – qualities that made her a force for good around the world, changing countless lives for the better,.

‘Every day, we wish she were still with us, and our hope is that this statue will be seen forever as a symbol of her life and her legacy.’
