Austrian Grand Prix 2021: Who Won Driver of the Day?

The Austrian Grand Prix is underway with Max Verstappen leading the way. However, it is McLaren’s Lando Norris who has been making the moves as he is fighting for a podium finish.

The Brit has the best start of his career as he qualified second for the race; seeing the front row for the first time on merit. And with his performance on race day, as surely got him the votes needed to win driver of the day.

Lando Norris wins the vote for Driver of the Day

The 21-year-old has been in fine form this season so far; picking two podiums in the process and a third one at the Red Bull Ring is likely. The Brit did hold his ground as he was attacked by Sergio Perez and later by Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton.

However, what the icing on the cake was his overtake on the seven-time world champion just a few laps later. The way he drove the race from start to finish was brilliant and was recognized by the fans, who voted him driver for the day won it by a margin of 42%.

The Brit showed everyone was he is capable of

Norris hit the ground running at the Austrian Grand Prix this weekend, as he secured a front-row start by coming second; only being beaten by Red Bull’s Verstappen for a shot at a pole position.

However, Lando was well aware of the mammoth of tasks that lied for him on Sunday’s race. But, the McLaren driver kept his ground on put on a good fight as they zipped around the Red Bull Ring.

The most notable thing was his defense against Hamilton but soon had to give way. However, in just a few laps time Lando attacked the Brit for a shot at third place was successful and earned his McLaren the third podium this season.
