Courtney Love shared a throwback snap of Kurt Cobain and their daughter Frances Bean as a baby on Saturday in tribute to the Nirvana frontman.

Taking to Instagram, Courtney posted a photo that showed Kurt lying in bed, looking at his young daughter, who was placed next to him, with a loving gaze.

The candid photo caught the singer in a special moment with his baby daughter, as the photographer, possibly Courtney herself, took the picture from the other side of Frances.

‘Sometimes the male gaze is everything,’ commented the 56-year-old, who calls herself Courtney Love Cobain on the platform.

Courtney and Kurt tied the knot in February 1992 in Hawaii, welcoming Frances in August, after meeting on tour when Courtney was playing with her alternative rock band Hole.

The couple struggled with addiction and Kurt died by self-inflicted gunshot wound aged 27 in April 1994 at their Seattle home, while Courtney was in rehab in Los Angeles.

Although Courtney has gone on to date others, including Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, Stone Temple Pilots’ Scott Weiland and Hollywood actor Edward Norton, to whom she was engaged in the late 90s, she has not remarried.

Frances, now 28, has carved out a career in modelling and visual art, having been raised by her mother, aunts and paternal grandmother in the wake of her father’s death.

Courtney also leads an acting career that includes parts in films like Man on the Moon opposite Jim Carey and in TV shows including Sons of Anarchy and Lee Daniels’ Empire, and has recently come under fire for accusing Olivia Rodrigo of copying the album artwork for Hole’s record, Live Through This, in promotional artwork for her upcoming Sour Prom concert film.

Calling the 18-year-old chart-topper ‘rude’ in the comments section under her post for not asking her or cover photographer Ellen von Unwerth for permission, Courtney faced a backlash as fans were having none of it as they argued the ‘crying pageant girl’ was not an original creation of hers.
