Manny Pacquiao will mark his return to the ring on August 21 against the current unified IBF and WBC welterweight champion, Errol Spence Jr. The bout will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tickets for the mega-event are now on sale and can be purchased at the T-Mobile Arena website and on AXS. Tickets to the event can range from $105 to $2,500.

After defeating Keith Thurman in 2019, the “People’s Champ” secured the WBC super-welterweight champion status. However, the WBC stripped Manny Pacquiao of his super-welterweight belt because of inactivity. At 42, the ‘Pacman’ will shoot for gold once again after a 25-month hiatus.

Manny Pacquiao vs Errol Spence Jr – Biggest fight of the year?

While Pacquiao secured his last win over Keith Thurman nearly 2 years ago, Errol Spence Jr is coming into this fight after a dominant win over Danny Garcia in December 2020. Given that ‘The Truth’ is still well within his prime and has a longer reach, some think he could prove to be a real challenge for the super-welterweight “champ in recess”. Spence’s last opponent, Danny Garcia sees this fight as a tough call and believes both corners could stop the fight in the earlier rounds.

I think (Spence) can stop Pacquiao with a body shot. But I think Pacquiao can stop him too. I think it’s a 50/50 fight, I think that fight’s not going the distance. Floyd Mayweather recently took a shot at Pacquiao by calling his decision to continue fighting pro-boxing athletes “sad“. However, the “People’s Champ” was quick to clap back at Floyd by saying that he is not like other boxers who just look to get paid. Pacquiao added that he only wants to compete with the best in the sport. Following his revert, Floyd Mayweather has since agreed to help Errol Spence Jr prepare for his upcoming fight.

Even before fighting 32-year-old Keith Thurman in 2019, many doubted Pacquiao’s ability to counter a fighter in his prime; however, Manny Pacquiao put up a square contest against Thurman and ultimately won by a close split decision call. Despite the age and reach difference, ‘Pac-Mna’ looks like he is in the best shape of his life and is yet again looking to prove the naysayers wrong.

While Manny Pacquiao also had the choice of fighting pro-combat athletes like Conor McGregor and Ryan Garcia, boxing’s only eight-division champion challenged Errol Spence Jr, the best and the most feared athlete in the welterweight division. This certainly has the potential to be the biggest fight of the year.
