“Part of History”: Roger Federer Gives Tour of Wimbledon Championships 2021 on “Final Middle Sunday”
Wimbledon Championships 2021 abolished an age-old tradition of Middle Sunday yesterday. It was a day designated to rest, which means no more matches played on the day. However, the tournament wants to host fans on weekends and remove the extra day next year. So, as a last rite, Swiss maestro Roger Federer decided to give fans a little tour of the All England Club and take all in of the holiday.
The All England Club has been the home to the Championships since it started in 1877. Naturally, it has infused memories in millions of people worldwide, including tennis players.

Roger Federer shares why Middle Sunday at Wimbledon Championships is special
The record eight-time Wimbledon champion, Federer, shared a video message to tell what the Middle Sunday meant to him. Notably, the Wimbledon Championships 2021 is his 22nd appearance in the tournament.
After showing the Club behind him, Federer said, “This is the final Middle Sunday that we will ever have in the history for now. I don’t think it is going to change back after this. I just thought to be nice, show you guys around quickly and tell you what it means to me.”

Furthermore, the Swiss maestro explained that the rest day became special as they could not walk around the Grounds with matches playing. Yet, he does not know the origins of the Middle Sunday even though he calls it “part of the history.”
Also, the 39-year-old cracked a joke that maybe Groundsmen are playing on the courts under the bubble cover.
Conclusively, Federer opened up on being at Wimbledon once again. “Look, I love this tournament, and I love playing here, [I] can’t wait for tomorrow for my match against Sonego. And happy I could quickly show you around the Grounds here,” Federer said.

On Maniac Monday, all players remaining in the Wimbledon Championships 2021 will play on the same day. Federer will play Italian professional Lorenzo Sonego for a place in the quarterfinals. The couple met only one time in the 2019 Roland-Garros round one; Federer won that.
