PJ Tucker Reiterates Bucks’ Elite Mentality While Revealing Reason Behind Lack of Celebration After ECF Win

Milwaukee Bucks, after topping the regular season for two consecutive years, finally saw the face of an EC Championship win in 2021. On their way, they came across arguably the most lethal current team in the Brooklyn Nets and yet advanced. 

It was their moment in State Farm Arena as it took them a strenuous effort to defeat the Hawks in six games. Yet, the Bucks did not really celebrate as much as the Phoenix Suns did after eliminating the Clippers. So what was it that held them back from turning into the party animals that they deserved?

PJ Tucker revealed Milwaukee Bucks’ mentality

If one pays attention, it’s easy to notice how Giannis Antetokounmpo took two quick breaths before taking the trophy from Khris Middleton. He then took a good look at the detailing and the engraving on the beautiful trophy as he then handed it to PJ Tucker. So they had their moment, but still looked like the disciplined boys celebrating in a laid back fashion.

In an interview later, PJ Tucker, the former Rockets player who joined mid-season, revealed the reason behind it and said – 

PJ Tucker said that while some teams have champagne showers and celebrations when they earn a trip to the Finals, the Bucks did not.

“We ain’t done nothing yet,” he said.

This was in-line with how the Lakers kept saying in the Orlando Bubble that the “Job’s not finished.” Well, that Mamba Mentality that Kobe Bryant popularised led to LeBron James’ men lifting the championship. Perhaps the Bucks have taken a lesson and would only celebrate once they lift the ultimate title.

What did it mean for Giannis Antetokounmpo?

In the locker room, The Greek Freak told the cameraman, “Get the camera off me, bro!” He surely missed the last two games because of his knee injury but if it weren’t for him, the Bucks couldn’t have passed the semis. The 26-YO then hugged the trophy and sat in the corner with a rather emotional look on his face.

Certainly, Giannis was proud of his teammates who proved their mettle in his absence. But Mike Budenholzer’s Bucks know it well that this is their best shot at winning the title with no MVP in the opponents’ roster. They still have Chris Paul as a major obstacle but a healthy Buck roster can give them a hard time.
