There’s a new RoboCop game coming from the makers of Terminator: Resistance
French publisher Nacon has had its own mini-E3 event and revealed a new RoboCop game that won’t be out until 2023.
Although Sony has borne most of the resentment for not attending E3 they were far from the only company to not take part. There’s still the E3-esque EA Play Live event due to take place later this month and on Tuesday evening Nacon (previously known as Bigben Interactive) revealed their upcoming line-up.
Most of Nacon’s event focused on already announced titles such as The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum, Blood Bowl 3, Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong, WRC 10, Test Drive: Solar Crown, and Steelrising (a game about protecting Marie Antoinette from an army of robots in an alternate history French Revolution).
Their big new announcement though was RoboCop: Rogue City, the first new RoboCop game since 2003. (There was a mobile games based on the already forgotten reboot, but this will be based on the original 80s classic).
There’s no gameplay footage yet and no real information other than you’ll play as Alex Murphy (obviously), trying to save Detroit from ‘criminals and other crooked corporations’.
The greatest insight into the game is that the developer is Polish studio Teyon, who were responsible for fellow 80s movie tie-in Terminator: Resistance.
Resistance was an interesting game in that while the combat and mission design was poor, and stymied by an obviously low budget, the story and role-playing elements were actually quite good – and better than most of the more recent Terminator movies.

It would certainly be interesting to see what they could do with a bigger budget, although whether that will be afforded to them with RoboCop is unclear.
The game’s certainly not a rush job though, as it’s not out until 2023, for unspecific consoles and PC. At which point the corporate future predicted by the original movie will probably be 1:1 with real life…
