The tenth seed, who has been consistent on tour this year, defeated the likes of Andy Murray and Roberto Bautista Agut before edging past Karen Khachanov in a five-set thriller in the quarter-finals.

It was a topsy-turvy ride for the young Canadian as Khachanov put up a tough fight and didn’t give up till the very end. When the score was tied at 4-4 in the fifth, the Russian lost his serve as the game went on for more than ten minutes.

Denis Shapovalov sounded confident on facing Novak Djokovic in Wimbledon semis

Serving to clinch the match at 5-4, Shapovalov managed to be successful on his serve and reached the semis to face Novak Djokovic.

Speaking on-court post a lengthy battle, the Canadian was all praise for the Serb but maintained that anything can happen in the match.

He’s the best player in the world but I think anything is possible. When you look at the scoreboard first thing on Friday, it’s gonna be 0-0. Nothing else matters. It’s a tennis match and it can go either way. I have full belief in my team”, told the Canadian.
