Benedict Cumberbatch Aka ‘Sherlock Holmes’ Aces the Fashion Game at Wimbledon Championships 2021

While the All England Club, even in the pandemic times, isn’t short on well-heeled and high-profile spectators who belong and move in the showbiz and celebrity circles, there’s one who has been a standout at the Wimbledon Championships 2021.

The man of the moment, if one goes by the splashy images and coverage on British media, is Benedict Cumberbatch, the British actor who became a household name with the hugely successful BBC series ‘Sherlock Holmes’, a screen adaptation of the fictional detective created by Arthur Conan Doyle.

Making an appearance on the stands at All England on Day 8 at the Championships, the actor drew admiring gazes and lenses with his natty ensemble.

The ‘Jojo Rabbit’ actor, who showed up with his good friend, singer Olly Murs, raised the fashion stakes with a dull blue three-piece suit paired with a matching fedora hat and shades.

He was also seen carrying a big umbrella, a wise call considering the fickle shifts in weather which is typical for this part of the world.

Also among the celebrities in attendance were musician Lewis Capaldi and actor Jack Whitehall, among others.

While Cumberbatch drew the most eyeballs with his neat and dashing English gent get-up, Murs, too, attracted eyeballs with his brown Bomber jacket with a flower motif tailored on the shoulder.

One image had Cumberbatch holding an empty beer glass

In one of the many photographs that were taken of the British actor and his singer friend, Cumberbatch is seen holding an empty beer glass with one hand as he adjusts his face mask with the other.

In the same image, Murs had one hand on his friend’s shoulder, almost as if to demonstrate or convey the bond that there is between the two of them.

As much as he was at All England to catch the action live, Cumberbatch also took some time out of the sets of his new film ‘The Electrical Life of Louis Wain’.

The movie, set in the 19th century, traces the life of renowned painter Louis Wain, whose canvas work was inspired by feline species and his partner Emily.

While Cumberbatch made an appearance at the 2019 edition of the Championships as well along with British heartthrob and Hollywood A-lister Tom Hiddleston, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton has already been in attendance this year.

With the Centre Court back at full capacity with the start of the men’s quarter-final action on Wednesday, expect more leading faces from showbiz, entertainment and sports to dot the stands as the tournament heads for an absorbing climax.
