“I See Him Coming Back to America”- Eddie Hearn Reveals Anthony Joshua’s Possible Future

Boxing’s household superstar Anthony Joshua is all set to defend his titles against Oleksandr Usyk on September 25. Although the promoters haven’t revealed an official venue, the matchup is likely to happen in Great Britain. However, ‘AJ’ appears to be aching for an appearance in the United States of America.

Joshua competed last in the US Soil in 2019 where he faced the maiden loss of his career against Andy Ruiz Jr. The Britisher hasn’t competed in the States since then. But Eddie Hearn has revealed some interesting details about Joshua’s fighting future.

Speaking with ThaBoxingVoice, the Matchroom Kingpin said, “I think Anthony Joshua would love to fight in America again… I think he wants to come back and almost put that right… I see him coming back to America.”

Following the scratchy loss to Ruiz Jr. in 2019, Anthony Joshua revived himself in fashion. He avenged the loss to ‘The Destroyer’ in the same year, before knocking out Kubrat Pulev a year later at the Wembley Arena. While Joshua was supposed to unify the belts against WBC champion Tyson Fury next, certain external factors have aligned him for another title defense against Usyk.

Meanwhile, he seems just one win away from entering a unification bout, which can bring him all the heavyweight world championships. Hence, considering the current heavyweight championship ride, Joshua’s return to the United States of America can be massive.

When shall Anthony Joshua return to the USA?

It’s hard to picture a static future for Anthony Joshua or any of the top-tier heavyweight boxers. The division is in a total mess and we might see any of the two elites come up for the unification challenge, not necessarily Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua. Both men will have tough tests ahead against Oleksandr Usyk and Deontay Wilder.

Adding to that, Wilder has already expressed a desire to face Anthony Joshua. Hence, the fight after Usyk can bring back ‘AJ’ to the US soil. Meanwhile, that’s a discussion that is still way too far from reality, As of now, ‘AJ’ will have to defend his title against an undefeated boxer in Usyk, and a US return may be on the cards only after that.
