Aryna Sabalenka and Karolina Pliskova Create an Astounding Record at Wimbledon Championships 2021 That Even Venus and Serena Williams Couldn’t

Karolina Pliskova recently battled past World No.4 Aryna Sabalenka to reach the finals of the Wimbledon Championships 2021. She made an incredible comeback and won the match despite losing the first set. The final scoreline of the match was 5-7, 6-4, 6-4. Interestingly, it was the first time that she dropped a set in the Grand Slam.

Both Aryna Sabalenka and Karolina Pliskova made a new record in the history of the Wimbledon Championships 2021. The two hit a total of 32 aces during the entire match- which is the highest recorded number of aces that have even been delivered in the history of any women’s match at Wimbledon.

Even though Sabalenka lost the match, she defeated Pliskova when it comes to aces. The Belarusian player hit 18 aces while the Czech player could only manage to hit 14 aces in the semi-finals of the Wimbledon Championships 2021.

Fans only remember two names when they hear of aces in women’s tennis. The one is Venus Williams and other one is her little sister and 23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams. Even though the two have faced each other 31 times, even they have not delivered such a huge number of aces in a single match.

Karolina Pliskova will face Ashleigh Barty in the finals of the Wimbledon Championships 2021

Former World No.1 Pliskova will be playing her second Grand Slam final when she’ll step on the Centre Court on Saturday. However, she’ll be facing the in-form player, Ashleigh Barty, who is currently at the No.1 spot in the WTA rankings.

Both the players have lost only a single set in the tournament so far. However, while Pliskova is chasing her first-ever Grand Slam title, Barty will be looking forward to adding the second title in her Grand Slam tally after her French Open 2019 triumph.

It’s certainly not going to be an easy finale and fans are waiting desperately for it. Will Pliskova be able to beat the odds and lift her first major in London this year?
