Knicks’ Immanuel Quickley Reveals How Kevin Durant Has Donned a Mentor Role During Olympics Practice

The Men’s USA Basketball Team is on the run for the highly anticipated Tokyo Olympics. The immense NBA talent on the roster is becoming exciting for basketball fans. And, to add a cherry on the top, All-star Kevin Durant is leading the Olympic team this year.

This 2020 edition is all set to commence on July 23. The US basketball team has an extremely deep lineup with Damian Lillard, Jayson Tatum, Draymond Green, Khris Middleton, Devin Booker, and many more gracing the event.

The national team’s practice time is on and this brimming talent is being guided by Kevin Durant. The Nets’ star is now a 3-time Olympian with a gold medal for each of the first two appearances. The last time he stepped in for the Olympic event was in 2016 at Rio de Janeiro.

Amongst the star-studded bunch, many in the name of young talent have also been added to the roster. One of them is NY Knicks rookie guard Immanuel Quickley. The 22-YO was part of the 2020 draft who made it to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team this season. And now he has been admitted to the utmost respectable job – the Olympics.

Immanuel Quickley owns the opportunity of being guided in the midst of so many talented stars. According to NY Post, he elaborated his emotions on a Zoom call. When I was selected to the Select Team I was really excited, really grateful.” Speaking to Durant and being around his experienced aura is exactly what the developing players like Immanuel have been awaiting.

“Just talking to KD today and he told me we can get some work in when we’re here. That’s probably the best thing any of these guys can say,” the NY rookie further added. They’re willing to work out with us and teach us. That was one of the best things I heard today.”

The motivation seems high in Vegas with the team getting some work done in the gym. It’s an opportunity for Immanuel and others to grasp as much as they can from the Dream Team. On the other hand, the fans will be eager to witness another gold medal for the country this year.
