Lando Norris Gives His Verdict on Perez-Leclerc F1 Incident at Austrian GP

McLaren driver Lando Norris drove a stunning race at the Austrian Grand Prix. The young British driver started the race from the front row just behind the pole-sitter Max Verstappen and finished the race in the third position.

He was looking racy at the Red Bull Ring and could have finished 2nd in the race if not for his 5-second penalty. The race was filled with penalties as Lando got it for his defense against Perez and then Sergio got the penalty for his defense on Charles Leclerc.

In a recent video, Lando is reacting to the incident between Perez and Leclerc. He thought the penalty awarded to the Mexican was harsh. “That’s not a 5-second penalty. I think that’s tough.

Why were there so many penalties at the Austrian Grand Prix?

Lando Norris got a 5-second penalty in lap 4 for pushing Sergio Pérez in the gravels at turn 4. The same incident occurred with Perez later in the race when he was defending P6 from Charles Leclerc. This time, he pushed Leclerc off the track and into the gravel.

There has been a lot of debate regarding the penalties. Some have called Race Director Micheal Masi into question for awarding penalties too easily and killing ‘ hard racing’. Masi responded to these reports by stating that the penalties are mentioned in the rules.

I’m not getting too giddy: Lando Norris on his recent performances

The annoying thing is so many people are going to expect this every weekend now,” said Norris after the Austrian Grand Prix podium.

“I’m not getting too giddy because I know we’re going to go to Silverstone and it’s probably going to be a little bit more like back to normality,” said Lando.

“We’ve always been strong in Austria, every year since my first time coming here in F1. Silverstone was not so good for us last season,” he said.
